Where the hell did Sharity Surfin’ posts goto for the past month? Where the hell did I go off to? I was in the shower. I mean cleaning the basement. No, no, no. The KFJ staff has been eagerly applying for our US Government financial assistance bailout check and hopfully should be getting it anyday now. Once we got word that the paperwork was approved we obviously felt we needed a company retreat and just got back this week. WP & DT! posts should be be back to the regular schedule shortly.

Oh… Blackberry, Blackberry, Blackberry.. Jam, Jam, Jam, Jam-jam. To say that I am a fan of ‘Dance Music’ would be about as far fetched & riduclous as the president is black (which is the last time I can use that analogy). I really wish there was a way to not use the words ‘Dance Music’ when talking about Supersonic Future, but It’s just not possible. Honestly, if I saw this post elsewhere and glimpsed the image above and those dreaded words and that would be the extent of my attention. Try NOT to judge this one on looks alone. (Later Edit: Disregard all Dance comments, I’m an idiot – it’s Electronic Pop – unless burnvictim disagrees)

Remember those 80′s bad teenage comedies, how they all began with the drawn out ‘morning before school’ introduction with some odd pop tune while the credits roll? Think Ferris Bueller, think John Cusack flicks. Something about “Maybe Yes” sounds exactly like one of those tracks. “No Satisfaction” (No, not a cover) is another incredible track, with undertones of Kraftwerk, Afrika Bambaataa. See Below Audio Samples for a taste.

Really wish I had some artist history or bio to clue you in on, but can’t help you there (until i can read Russian, that is).  A couple years back while doing the artist <-> label skip I stumbled onto their website after hearing Messer Chups (bookmark it – another definite hear).  So armed with nothing but samples and sites reviewing the songs in Russian I pieced together what I could get, and finally the reappeared during some late night myspace browsing (the pathetic life I live).

Supersonic Future is the perfect example of the direction I’d hoped electronic dance music would go. This could be a band that had they been from the USA and the vocals were all english that i would have just skimmed right by it without giving the sounds a second thought. Julia’s accent at times sounds so odd to the tracks that its all you can think about. And it f@cking rocks. Some of the english lines sound like really bad and unusual trabslations. Intentional or not, it’s sounds awesome (“Do you want? Such an ass.”).  If only the music was more accessible. Just very recently was the Maybe Yes EP availble via iTunes and the Leslie Family LP just got some US distribution. Tracks availible here are selected from songs featured on their official site & myspace radio page. Give them a listen and by the shit, it’s worth every penny. This is just a little taste.

Oh yeah, and the band website. Best one ever, hand-down. Kudos to the site designer, Vladimir Shreyder. Wish all band sites had this much creativity. If you check out some of the online references from here, make sure to give a listen to Messer Chups, Messer Fur Frau Mueller (featuring Oleg Kostrow) & Bambi Molesters – the don’t have a real similar sound to SSF, there are some great songs by the two.
