Camp Pendlewood is the most prestigious pole vaulting camp in the north east. But its starched-shirt, buttoned-down reputation is severely threatened when the wise- cracking, whiz-kid, billionaire, prankster-prince Richie Smits (Kilby) arrives and turns camp life upside down.

original Poonballs! radio spot:

The camp’s irascibly uptight dean Mr. Snarkley (Gus Francois) hires a no-nonsense ex-marine sergeant  (Louis Gosset Jr.) to sabotage Camp Pendlewood efforts to win this year’s charity Vault-A-Thon so that he can sell the camp to a bomb making factory.

But Pendlewood finds an unlikely hero in the wily Smits.  With the help of hip-hop rapper Flash Master Q (Master J Flash), and  a lovable Russian defector from a Soviet submarine named Ivan (Ivan Stognagniastovski),  he manages to create a hip new hybrid form of breakdance-pole vaulting that wows the judges of the Vault-A-Thon and finally ends the Cold War.
